Something Fishy This Way Comes IX / Lord of the Rivers VIII, Rampart Riot VII Tournaments, Bhakail Baronial Champion IV, Bhakail Baronial Rapier Champion IV
Saturday, June 4th, 2005 (PAST EVENT)
We have obtained historic Fort Mifflin, Fort Mifflin Rd., Philadelphia, PA (no street number) for a fun and relaxed day.
We are planning two heavy weapons tournaments this year. Lord of the Rivers will be a heavy weapons tournament to select the Bailiwicke Champion and then he Bhakail Baronial Championship will feature both the selection of the Baronial Champion and the selection of a Ladies’ Champion of Bhakail who will be chosen by the damsels present.
Rampart Riots, the rapier tournament, will select the Bailiwicke champion and the Bhakail Baronial Rapier Championship gives the fencers attending the opportunities to test their skills on actual ramparts, gates and bridges. Weapons inspection is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
A hearty luncheon will be available at 1:00. Note, this is not an off board meal to all. Please see fee structure below.
The site is open to the public that day so this will also double as a demo and we would also like to plan a day of A&S activities along the theme of period sea faring. These can include both displays and lectures. The Fort has requested that we submit a formalized schedule of activities no later than May 1, 2005. Those wishing to participate in this area should contact the Bailiwicke’s A&S officer, Lady Tiphaine de Montaigne at 215-382-…. / tiphdmont@… (No calls after 9:00 PM)
The luncheon on Saturday, prepared by Lady Shannon Gallowglass will be served at 1:00 and will consist of cold roast beef, ham, breads, butters, cheeses and fresh fruits and few additional surprises. More than enough to fortify those participating in the days martial activities. Any questions regarding dayboard please send to Lady Shannon at shannon@… .
As the site has limited facilities our alchemists have been hard at work developing disposable feast gear which will be provided. There are also a number of fast food eateries on Island Ave. a short distance from the site. Please be aware the site is bone dry during the day. SCAdians of the four-legged variety are welcome but must be on leashes at all times.
Merchants are most welcome to ply their trade at this event. We have arranged for easy access to the fort inner grounds. There will be no separate merchant’s fee. Please contact the autocrat for details.

Reminder: Something Fishy on June 4th
As is tradition in Bhakail, the new Baronial Rapier Champion with be chosen
during Something Fishy this Way Comes, to happen at Fort Mifflin on June
4th http://www.eastkingdom.org/event-detail.html?eid=1020
Lord Griffith of the Argent Tyger, current Champion of Bhakail, will be
hosting this years Baronial championships. The position of Champion will be
open to all fencers from the barony and to those fencers who live on its
borders.
The Champion will again this year be chosen based on the results from three
categories:
– First there is the A&S competition. The entry may be of any type as long
as it is period and shows the fencers creativity.
– Second there is the fencing tournament. This will be a fairly standard
double elimination with one twist. If a fencer is eliminated they may
donate a toy to the toys for tots fund and be allowed to challenge the
current champion. If they win they will be given back one life. Each fencer
will only be allowed to do this once.
(so please die and challenge him so that you can help the Toys for Tots
collection and allow him to fence also on this day)
– Thirdly, The Baron and Baroness will be choosing who they have felt has
most impressed them on the day.
Of note, there will be a prize for the Fencing Tourney winner,
independently of the champion selection requirement. So even if you don’t
live on Bhakail’s border, you still have something to fight for :)
But wait, that’s not all!
There will be not 1, not 2, but 3 (yes I told 3) prize fights!!! That will
be these of Lissa Underhill, Lilia de Vaux and Arnaut Deguerre. We (the
Militia) will charge a fee for entry to the lists! These toys will be
collected for Toys For Tots – one toy will allow fighters into the list to
fight all these newly ranked Tadcastrians.
Event to open at 10:00. Inspections and auths to start as soon as we get
enough people to get started. It’s going to be a busy day :)
Please forward as you think appropriate.
Enjoy your day,
Brunissende de Brocéliande,
Marshal in Charge for the Bailiwick of Ivyeinrust fencing practice
