We want to go to the UPenn Museum as a group! On Saturday, February 28th – please join us!
Where: 3260 South Street Philadelphia, PA 19104
If you are a Penn faculty/staff/student, then admission is FREE
If you are a Youth (6-17) or College Student, then admission is $14
If you are a Senior (65+) then $21
Almost everyone else, $23
And then there are categories of people who can get free admission, but can only do so at the door and can’t reserve a free ticket ahead: ACCESS/EBT card holders, active U.S. military personnel and veterans, K-12 teachers, Penn Medicine/CHOP patients and staff, Tribal Card holders.
You are responsible for booking your own ticket and exploring!
If you want lunch at the museum, the cafe should be open and is pretty good! It’s on the second floor, after the Africa Galleries
We will be meeting up at 2pm! And we’ll meet up at the seating area of the cafe because that’s near the elevator we will use to reach the library. First stop will be to see the exhibit on museum-inspired interactions from the libraries’ maker space.

And then at 3pm, we’ll go to the lecture for the Exhibition Opening Lecture: Ancient Egypt in Watercolors: Paintings and Artifacts from Dra Abu el-Naga
(included with museum admission)
And we’ll also swing by the Middle East Galleries to look at the museum’s treatment of the remains from people buried in the Early Dynastic IIIA royal tombs at Ur. We’ll take pictures of the exhibition text about their history and presentation.
And we’d said that if anyone wanted to get together for dinner after, we’d go to Manakeesh, but the restaurant is closing today so that won’t be an option.
